About Us

Nestor Matthews founded Matthews Studio in January 1995. He and his team focus exclusively on the design of interior residential spaces.  While working mainly in the Bay Area, with projects also in the Pacific Northwest and Hawaii, they recently opened up an office in the Berkshire Hills serving Western Massachusetts and Northwest Connecticut.

Through a process based on close collaboration with their clients, Matthews Studio brings an assured beauty and livability to all their projects.  As an architect, Nestor’s training has enabled him to visualize how all the components of a project come together, and propose practical solutions to the challenges faced by existing conditions or conflicting programmatic requirements.   We want to make sure that each project reflects the needs and desires of our clients, while surprising them with design elements that exceed their expectations.
